Round 5 - Kansas

Round 5 took place at the very fast Kansas Motor Speedway.

As usual it seems I had a very good practise session, topping the timing sheets with a time of 33.798.

Qualifying did not go so well as I could only manage a 33.705 which saw me on the 2nd row in 4th place.

It didn't take long for me to move up the order in the race. I managed to hold the lead until I was informed that I didn't have enough fuel to last the race.

I stayed out front until lap 56 when I was sure that I had gained the 5 bonus points for leading the most laps. I then pitted. After leaving the pits I was given the black flag and subsequently a drive through penalty for speeding in the pit lane!

Disaster followed disaster when after my drive through I managed to spin the car before I even rejoined the track. This of course brought a yellow flag caution period.

At the restart I was too eager to pass cars and get back on the lead lap which led me to make contact with too many of them. This led to Nascar giving me the black flag and another driver through penalty for dangerous driving.

I finally resumed racing with a handful of laps left. I tried my best but could only get back to 30th at the chequered flag.

I was down to 2nd in the standings 16 points behind.

My fastest lap of the race was a 33.627.

I led 54 of the 75 laps.

Round 4 - Martinsville, Virginia

Round 4 of the series took place on the tight 'paper clip' 0,5 mile oval that is Martinsville.

I was quickest over the 10 lap practise session with a time of 21.322.

I bettered that time in qualifying as I managed pole with a time of 21.285.

In the race, I led all 114 of the 114 laps. Only 10 cars finished on the lead lap.

I managed to some cars four times.

I did set a best lap time of 20.805 which was my fastest of the weekend.

I was still 1st in the standings 66 points ahead of the pack.

Round 3 - Atlanta Motor Speedway

Round 3 of the series took place at the very fast Atlanta Motor Speedway in Georgia.

I started off the race weekend with a very satisfying practise session, where after my 10 laps I was 2nd fastest with a time of 31.660.

Qualifying went well for me as I qualified second with a time of 31.711..

In the race I found myself in the lead after the first of the 59 laps.

Fuel consumption was the important factor in this race. On lap 25 of 59 I was informed by my pit crew that I was halfway on fuel. Now 25 is less than half of 59 so I decided to pit with 24 laps remaining. I managed in those laps to pass a few cars and finish 8th.

The question is why yet again did no one else have to stop for Sunoco fuel?

I ended up in first place in the overall standings 35 points ahead..

I led 11 of the 59 laps which got me the 5 bonus points.
