Round 1 - Daytona International Raceway

For this series I decided to leave the limit for practise as 10 laps. This seemed to be enough.

I ended up fastest after practise with a best time of 51.552 seconds.

Qualifying for this series (and all other NASCAR championships) is in a 2 lap dash format. The track is empty at this point.

I qualified in my best position for a super-speedway, 26th. My times were 51.957 and 51.846 not bad for consistency as almost a second and half faster than I posted the last time I was here!

I made a slight mistake early on in the race that caused a caution period which dropped me back to 33rd however by the end of the race I had managed to get to 21st - my best result on a super-speedway.

My fastest lap of the race was 51.972 slightly slower than my qualifying time.

Round 20 - Homestead, Miami Florida

Round 20, the final round of the series took place at Homestead Miami Speedway in Florida.

I had to get a good result to stand any chance of haing a championship top 10 finish.

The 10 lap practise session went well as I was fastest with a time of 38.377s.

Qualifying did not go too well as I had to be content with a 14th place grid slot with a time of 37.983 even though this was faster than my practise time!

In the race I managed to climb through the field to get into 8th by the halfway mark. However a lapse in concentration as I was lapping some back markers in the last 5 or so laps saw me get my first black flag for in several races.

The black flag penalty cost me a lap and with only 2 laps to go I was fortunate to finish 22nd.

My fastest lap of the race was a 38.261

So a disappointing finish to complete the season. 9th in the championship, 392 points behind the leader was a big improvement on the previous season. Next season a top 5 should be possible.

Round 19 - Phoenix International Raceway

The penultimate round of the Championship took place in the Arizona desert at the Phoenix International Raceway.

With no chance of winning the championship the best I could aim for out of this season was a solid top 10 finish. I did have an outside chance of a top 5 spot but I would have to have two very good results.

Practise went very well as my time of 29.337 was the fastest posted during the session.

My good form carried over into qualifying as my time of 29.518 was enough to win pole position.

In the race I was always in the top 2. I led for 31 of the 45 laps, unlike some of the previous races if I made a mistake I was content to let the cars through and then work my way back to the front.

I crossed the line barely a tenth of a second in front of the second placed truck.

My best lap time in the race was 29.659, a tenth slower than my qualifing time.

I was now up to 8th in the standings, 324 points behind the leader.

Round 18 - Texas Motor Speedway

Round 18 took place at one of the fastest tracks on the championship circuit, Texas Motorspeedway.

The race weekend started well as I was fastest straight out of the box in practise with a time of 33.934 after the mandatory 10 laps.

I was a tad slower in qualifying but still managed to claim pole position with a time of 34.001.

The 44 lap race followed a similar pattern to the previous 2 or 3. From the dropping of the flag I led for 10 laps before slotting to second with the intention of sitting there until the last few laps when I would make my move. The plan was going so well that I took the lead much earlier than intended and held it quite easily.

I was told on lap 21 that my fuel was halfway depleted so rather than risk running dy as I had in the previous Texas race I slotted into second and ran in fule conservation mode for 20 or so laps. This didn't work as 3 laps from the end I was marginal on fuel so went into the pits for a splash.

I managed to pass a few cars in the 2 laps that I had to finish 25th.

My best lap of the race was a 33.766 which was my fastest of the race weekend.

I was 9th in the standings - still 8 places higher than the previous season.

Round 17 - Atlanta Motorspeedway, Georgia

Round 17 of the series took place at the very fast Atlanta Motor Speedway in Georgia.

I started off the race weekend with a very satisfying practise session, where after my 10 laps I was 3rd fastest with a time of 31.597.

Qualifying went even better for me as I qualified on pole with a time of 31.696.

In the race I found myself 2nd early on and decided to stay there until the last 5 of the 39 laps. With 5 to go I begun to make my move, the cars in front of me were running alone which made passing easier however I did have to lap a few trucks as well. By the final lap I was in the lead but ran wide on the last corner which let a truck through. Second place was a good result though.

I led a total of 5 laps.

My fastest lap of the race was a 31.955.

I stayed in 9th place in the overall standings 262 points behind the current leader.
